A Spoonful of Rice Cereal.....

Rice cereal, yummy! Doesn't Alonzo look impressed with this wonderful delicacy!

Well, better foods lie ahead!

Alonzo's First Trip to Kewanee

We just returned from Alonzo's first trip to Kewanee ! The big event was of course his Baptism. He was baptized at St. John Roman Catholic Congregation of Galva, Il. by Father John Burns. The Godparents are Christel MacDonald and Anthony Franco.

Alonzo also got to meet all his cousins, aunts, uncles, and great grandma Dziengel for the first time. We had a great time and Alonzo charmed everyone. His cousin Brianna spent the week with us and helped out so much, she's a diaper changing expert! We also had a chance to visit our friends Joe and Liz and their beautiful son, Joseph in Chicago.

Getting there was half the adventure. On the way to the airport we got a late start, won't say who caused that, then a guy picked a fight with JR at security, after rushing to the gate we made it just in time to board early....The return flight was low-key, probably why Alonzo got more antsy!

The Beginning

Here's where it all began, if you don't count pregnancy....ha ha. After 6 1/2 hours of labor Alonzo Lawrence Dziengel was born on April 1, 2007. He weighed 6 pounds 15 oz. and was 18 inches long. Labor happened so quickly we barely made it to the hospital. When we got there the only thing on my mind was the epidural but when the nurses checked I was fully dilated and told me "Sorry Honey, by the time the epidural takes effect this baby will already be born." So we did the whole thing au natural, not by choice, but in the end it wasn't so bad (or did those childbirth hormones cloud my memory...?).

The prize on the other end of childbirth makes you immediately forget everything else! And what a prize we got!

First Swim

This was taken after our first swim! We didn't really enjoy it, much crying, but I know in a few years he'll be begging us to go in the pool. I bought Alonzo a life vest which is the smallest on the market but way too big for him, he gets swallowed up in orange foam!
